Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how Encored (“Encored,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, discloses, and protects personal information when you use the Encored mobile application for iOS and Android, our website at encoredconcerts.app, and related services (together, the “Service”).

By using the Service, you acknowledge that you have read this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

1. Who is responsible for your data?

Encored is the data controller for personal information processed through the Service, except where we act as a processor on behalf of others (which we do not for the core Encored app experience).

2. What Encored does

Encored helps you discover live music and concerts, save events, log shows you attend, connect with friends, see friends’ activity, compare musical tastes, mark events you are selling tickets for, and share links to profiles or taste comparisons. The Service is social by design: some information is visible to other users according to your settings and friend relationships.

3. Information we collect

We collect information in the following categories:

3.1 Information you provide

• Account data: email address, password or one-time verification codes (handled through our authentication provider), and account identifiers.
• Profile data: username, optional profile photo, optional city or location you select, and other profile fields you choose to add.
• Social data: friend requests, friend connections, and interactions visible in the activity feed.
• Saved events and history: events you save (upcoming or past), attendance you log, performers you associate with events, privacy settings for individual saved events (including “private” saves), and indicators such as whether you are selling tickets for an event.
• Support communications: messages you send us when you contact support.

3.2 Information collected automatically

• Device and app data: device type, operating system, app version, language, and general technical logs needed to operate and secure the Service.
• Usage data: how you use features (for example feeds, search, and navigation) in aggregated or logged form to maintain and improve the Service.
• Network data: IP address and request metadata processed by our hosting and authentication providers when you use the Service.

3.3 Location information

With your permission, the app may access your device’s location to suggest a city or improve location-based discovery. You can deny or revoke location permission in your device settings. You may also set or change your city manually in the app without using precise location.

3.4 Photos

If you choose a profile photo from your device photo library, the app accesses only the image you select. Profile photos you upload are stored on our infrastructure so they can be displayed on your profile and to other users according to the Service’s social features.

3.5 Information we do not collect

Encored does not offer end-to-end encrypted messaging. We do not require payment card data for core app features; ticket purchases happen on third-party ticket sellers’ sites, not inside Encored.

4. How we use information

We use personal information to:

• Create and manage your account and authenticate you (including email verification codes);
• Provide discovery, feeds, search, profiles, friends, activity, and taste comparison features;
• Store and display your saved events, attendance, and related social context;
• Enable sharing via links (for example encoredconcerts.app/users/… and /compare/…);
• Operate optional location-based suggestions when you grant permission;
• Maintain security, prevent abuse, and enforce our Terms of Service;
• Respond to support requests and communicate about the Service;
• Improve reliability, performance, and product experience.

5. Legal bases (EEA, UK, and Switzerland)

If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, we process personal data on these bases:

• Performance of a contract: to provide the Service you request when you create an account and use Encored;
• Legitimate interests: to secure the Service, prevent fraud, improve features, and operate social functionality, balanced against your rights;
• Consent: where required, for example device location access (you may withdraw consent in device settings);
• Legal obligation: where we must comply with applicable law.

6. How we share information

6.1 With other Encored users

Depending on your actions and settings, other users may see your username, profile photo, city, saved events (unless marked private), friend relationships, activity feed entries, events you mark as selling tickets, and taste comparison results when you or others share comparison links. Content you mark private is intended to be hidden from other users according to in-app controls.

6.2 Service providers (processors)

We use trusted providers that process data on our instructions to run the Service, including:

• Supabase — authentication, database, serverless functions, and file storage (for example profile photos);
• JamBase (via our backend) — concert and event metadata displayed in the app;
• Deezer — artist search and related metadata used when you pick profile imagery or search artists;
• Apple and Google — app distribution and platform services when you install or update the app.

These providers have their own privacy policies. We configure the Service to communicate with backend and partner APIs over encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS).

6.3 Legal and safety

We may disclose information if we believe in good faith that disclosure is required by law, legal process, or government request, or to protect the rights, safety, and security of Encored, our users, or the public.

6.4 Business transfers

If we are involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, personal information may be transferred as part of that transaction, subject to this Privacy Policy or a successor policy with notice to you where required by law.

7. International data transfers

We and our service providers may process and store information in countries other than where you live, including countries that may not provide the same level of data protection as your home jurisdiction. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as standard contractual clauses or equivalent mechanisms approved under applicable law.

8. Retention

We retain personal information for as long as your account is active and as needed to provide the Service, resolve disputes, enforce agreements, and comply with legal obligations. When you delete your account, we delete or anonymize personal data associated with your account as described below, except where limited retention is required by law or for legitimate security and backup purposes for a short period.

9. Account deletion

You may delete your account from within the app. Deletion is intended to permanently remove your account and associated data, including saved events, friend connections, profile information, and uploaded profile photos, from our active systems. Deletion is irreversible. Some residual copies may persist in encrypted backups for a limited time before being purged according to our providers’ retention cycles.

10. Security

We implement technical and organizational measures designed to protect personal information, including use of HTTPS for data in transit and access controls on our backend. No method of transmission or electronic storage is completely secure; we cannot guarantee absolute security.

11. Your privacy rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:

• Access the personal information we hold about you;
• Correct inaccurate information;
• Delete your information (including via in-app account deletion);
• Object to or restrict certain processing;
• Data portability, where applicable;
• Withdraw consent where processing is based on consent;
• Lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority (for example the CNIL in France: cnil.fr).

To exercise these rights, contact support@help.encoredconcerts.app. We may need to verify your identity before responding. We will respond within the timeframes required by applicable law.

12. United States state privacy notices

Where applicable state privacy laws grant additional rights (for example access, deletion, or opt-out of certain processing), you may contact us at the email above. Encored does not sell personal information for money. We do not use personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising as defined under California law.

13. Children

The Service is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us personal information, contact us and we will take steps to delete it. In the EEA, you must meet the minimum age required in your country to consent to online services (often 16, or lower where member state law allows parental consent).

14. Third-party links and ticket sellers

The Service may link to third-party ticket sellers, venues, or websites. We are not responsible for their privacy practices. Review their policies before providing personal information or completing a purchase.

15. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated version on this page and revise the “Last updated” date. If changes are material, we may provide additional notice in the app or by email where appropriate and required by law.
